Flowing Breath and Energy Meditation: A Guest Post by In-House Instructor Sheri Bagwell

I used to have a ridiculously difficult time trying to quiet my mind. My body didn’t like to be still or it would completely fall asleep. I found a breathwork class and that changed everything! I have created what I believe is the easiest way to meditate. I’ve incorporated my favorite ways to connect to source in one amazing class. These techniques support the body, mind and spirit. 

Breathwork is incredible for your physical body as well as your mind and spirit. When you bring more oxygen to the blood stream you will physically start to change your body and clear impurities from your system. When your blood is supported by an increase of oxygen it supports your cells and organs more efficiently and effectively. This practice also clears the mind. This specific practice is considered gentler than your typical breathwork class, but the effect is the same.

Energy work is also incredibly effective to support your physical body, your mind and your spirit. Emotions are supposed to be energy in motion. When you stall the motion of energy (usually by holding your breath when you experience trauma and drama) emotions get trapped in your field, then over time they work their way into the physical body becoming dense and disrupt the flow of the body. During class I will pinpoint where your breath and energy are trapped and assist you to release the energy or emotions that are causing your disruption and dis-ease. 

Meditation, in my opinion, is actually anything that connects you to spirit or your higher self. The most important part of meditation is to understand how the universe or spirit communicates with you so that when you have asked a question and you want feedback, you actually understand what is being offered to you.  Trusting your intuition is the key. Most people don’t really trust what is being offered to them. When you have cleared your system with breath and energy it is unmistakable when the universe has spoken in whatever manor it chooses to communicate with you.

I'll be combining all of these techniques in my Flowing Breath and Energy Meditation class. In this class you will be lying down (or in a chair if you prefer) with your chest open. I highly recommend that you drink a lot of water before and after class to assist with your physical cleansing. Wear comfortable clothes that allow your stomach and your ribs to expand with ease. We will listen to gentle music and focus on our breath.  When everyone has achieved a pattern they are comfortable with we will start to focus the energy on the parts of our bodies that need support or healing. I blend traditional meditation techniques like visualization with chakra balancing and tapping whenever I am moved to. I will be teaching you how to take ownership of the healing of your body and your life. With continued classes you will learn how to take this space of being into your daily life to operate from a place of love and connection.

This class will be held on Oct 21st from 10-11 am at The Open Mind Center. Starting in November this class will run every other Monday from 10-11 am and every other Wednesday from 6:45-7:45 pm.
