“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage
is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again
tomorrow.”
~ Mary Anne

Do you remember
when you learned how to ride a bike? The determination and anxiety all rolled
into one that propelled you, with no training wheels, to take to the street in
a way that you never had before. That is courage. Courage doesn't grab a hold of
us and shake us in our boots, but rather gathers steam through overcoming fear,
anxiety and doubt, and then doing “it” anyway. Being able to push through all that
uneasiness on a teetering two wheeler, is what bolsters courage inside of us to
keep going, keep trying, and keep doing. Overcoming the feeling of
apprehension, coupled with determination, produce courage. For each one of us,
the place in our heart and mind that produces courage is different and it may
not be a feeling we have innately but if we learn to embrace it, a feeling of
success and power can be found.
Using our
courage in everyday life can make itself evident in many ways. From large leaps,
like deciding to look for a new job that fulfills your life’s passion or
leaving a relationship that doesn't bring out your best self. To smaller steps, like
painting a room a color that might be out of your comfort zone or learning a
new sport that you always wanted to try. The fact is that it may take courage
to do any of those things. Once you have made a courageous
decision, the path to manifest that decision will be revealed for you to follow
and other courageous decisions may be easier to make.
