Om Mani Padme Hum
In the center we have many items that feature these
sacred words. But what exactly does it mean? Tibetan Buddhists have used this
mantra (or prayer) for centuries. It is believed that by saying these words,
you will invoke blessings and embody compassion. Often times, you will see Om
Mani Padme Hum engraved in stones or written on paper for all to see. This
mantra happens to be the most widely used of all Buddhist mantras. Anyone can
use the saying as it does not require an initiation by a lama. By saying this
mantra you will elevate your mind. In order to truly understand the meaning, we
must break each word down.
OM: A blessed word that helps you to achieve success as
you practice generosity.
MA: Helps achieve the practice of pure ethics.
NI: Helps perfect tolerance and patience.
PAD: Helps to achieve perseverance.
