Dream interpretation has become increasingly
popular over the last few years. This has posed the question to many people
about if our dreams really have meaning. It has been argued by popular
researchers that our dreams serve no real purpose, however others remain
convinced that our dreams reveal more to us than we may think.
Carl Jung believed that our dreams revealed parts
of our psyche that are yet to be developed in our physical and conscious life.
Sigmund Freud suggested what we experience in our dreams are wishes we want to
manifest in our present life. Calvin Hall believed that our dreams are part of
a cognitive process where our dreams serve as concepts of our current life and
by analyzing our dreams we can uncover specific themes and patterns.
So what should you look for when interpreting your
own dreams? Calvin Hall purposed the following:
-
The actions of the dreamer within
the dream
-
The objects and figures in the dream
-
The interactions between the dreamer
and the other characters within the dream
-
The setting, transitions and overall
outcome
Sometimes in order to really understand your
dreams, you must stop looking at the obvious and change your perspective. After
all, it isn’t really about understanding the dream itself; it’s all about
understanding the dreamer. Understanding your true self! Sweet dreams!
