Pranyama is breathing exercises developed by ancient yogis
to purify the body and mind by controlling, regulating, and channeling the
prana, the vital force or energy. We take in prana through the air we breathe. Practicing
exercises can increase the amount of air we take in, therefore increasing our
intake of prana as well. There are breathing patterns associated with each
emotional and physical state we experience. Techniques have been created to aid
us with these states and allow us to find relaxation.
The Open Mind Center is offering a Healing Through Breathing
class to learn some pranayama exercises. The techniques taught in Part I can be
used for increasing energy, calming the mind, fighting insomnia, and increasing
lung capacity.
Come join this beautiful circle of breath and find the sweet
quiet place that exists in all of our minds. No prior experience required.
